What is the Red Dot Pistol Course?

I am thrilled to have been selected by Scott Jedlinski (Modern Samurai Project) as one of his endorsed Red Dot Pistol instructors. Scott is THE authority in the red dot and AIWB holster space and I am honored to be mentored by Scott and trusted to deliver high level instruction on this content.

Whether you carry a dot on duty, conceal carry, compete with a dot, or are new to a dot, this class will make you a more proficient and efficient shooter and RDS operator. Though this class is not for new shooters (safe gun handling and holster is necessary) new shooters to the DOT are welcome!

Course Instructor

Fabio Spinella

Experienced firearms instructor and competitive shooter. As a firm believer that people are their own first line of defense, Fabio founded My Own Defender LLC whose mission is to equip busy people with the necessary skills to defend themselves, protect their loved ones, and survive trauma or disaster. To that end Fabio has helped hundreds of gun owners acquire the appropriate knowledge and skills to learn when and how to deploy a force multiplier such as a firearm.

Fabio is a Krav Maga black belt and teaches self-defense to everyday people who understand the need for empty hand skills. He is a strong education professional currently attaining a second Master’s degree, this time focused in Security Management from the University of Denver. Fabio is a USCCA, NRA, and DOJ certified instructor and is endorsed by Scott Jedlinski (Modern Samurai Project) as one of his trusted Red Dot Pistol instructors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much ammo will I need for this course?

The short answer is around 300-400 rounds. You will have opportunities to shoot more if you want to and you will also have the opportunity to dry practice some repetitions if you so chose.

What holster should I bring?

AIWB, IWB, or OWB are all welcome. We prefer kydex holsters. The hard shell makes it safer for you and your classmates. Make sure the holster covers the trigger guard! Also, DO NOT bring a holster that requires your index finger to disengage retention. These holsters are unsafe! We are love McKinatec.com holsters here at MOD. If you order one you intend to use in a class, email us your order number and we'll try to get that order expedited for class.

Is this an advanced course?

We believe there is really no such thing as advanced courses. The better you can execute shooting mechanics (fundamentals), the more proficient shooter YOU are. The only requirement for each class is that you are a safe gun handler. If you've never shot a gun before, get into a Pistol Mechanics class before enrolling in this one.
